i caught the last scene from "Living in Oblivion" on channel4. i had forgotten that i *always* meant to see this film since 1995, so i immediately ordered the NTSC DVD from amazon.

or, do you mean has anyone on the board actually made anything recently?

well i recently did another company ident, here (right click, save as ...)

    blue hardest weblogo

and i also recently updated my website (see link in my sig)

then i thought i'd try to watch Russian Ark and only blink on a cut.

I loved 'lost in translation'. One of the most refreshing movies I've seen in a while.

I've made two shorts... one is fucked up because of the bloody wind, and the other... well it's just actor-improvised and raises a smile.

I could post a link but you woulndt understand it.

Some of the sequences were great - a fantastic achievement in logistics and orchestration - other bits (well most bits actually) were INCREDIBLY dull. I didn't enjoy it at all.

No matter how much of an achievement it was - ironically, it demonstrates the importance of cuts.

PS For anyone that doesn't know this film - it's about an hour and a half long, with a cast of hundreds (maybe thousands) and it's all done in A SINGLE SHOT (ie no cuts).

I thought Russian Ark was a great movie. It was wonderful. Not exactly the party pleaser when I rented it. I think I may have been the only person in the room that found it interesting.

As for my own work--I am in Pre-Pro for a few gigs this Summer and trying to bust out one project of my own. We will just have to see what happens this month.

    Good Luck

I think Russian Ark was a little dull, but only because (it appears) to deal with Russian history through the eyes of a Frenchman (?)

to be honest, the fact there were no cuts didn't 'register' with me after the first few moments of expecting a cut.

and I kept looking for reflections of the crew in windows and things ;-)

I think it's above average, but loses points with me simply because I cannot bridge the cultural divide to enjoy the movie. "It's not you, it's me", lol

    Caught Russian Ark on BBC4.

A bit dull, but visually stunning. It was that and me just WAITING to see some kind of a cat that made me watch on. It's true, there isn't one, and even for someone who hasn't been into filmmaking for that long, it was amazing to see it.

Bought La Haine on DVD. Instantly went into my top ten movies of all time.

Oh, and almost forgot. Bought City of the lost Children Region 1 (?17.00 from Amazon.com) and got Audrey Tautou and Dominique Pinon's agent addresses.
